About the Journal

Trends in Biomaterials and Artificial Organs is an open access peer reviewed international journal (frequency of publication: quarterly) incorporating research mainly related to Biomaterials Science, Artificial Organs, Tissue Engineering, Regenerative Medicine, Nanotechnology, Diagnostics and Drug Delivery Systems in Medical and Dental field. The journal publishes Original Research Articles, Short Communications, Review Articles and Letter to Editor, in English language. The focus of publication is centered on the synthesis, characterization and biocompatibility studies of biomaterials and the design, validation and performance evaluation of medical devices. Biomaterials include synthetic materials falling in the classes of metals, alloys, polymers and ceramics, as well as natural materials like chitosan, silk, collagen and processed animal and human tissues. Composite forms of these materials and nanostructures have made their impact in this area and fabrication techniques like 3D bioprinting is changing the scenario. Innovative devices, implants and prostheses are being developed, spanning across various medical specialties like cardiovascular, neurological, orthopedics, maxillofacial, spinal and ophthalmic, along with dentistry. The topics of interest extend to scaffolds fabrication and tissue regeneration aspects and to diagnostic devices and drug delivery systems.

Trends in Biomaterials and Artificial Organs provides a platform for sharing the state-of-the-art information on the role of biocompatible materials and their structures and functional ensembles, in enhancing the quality of life. Objective of the journal is to act as a catalyst in the rapid growth of biomedical engineering, science, research and support its translation to products useful for healthcare.
