Focus and Scope
Trends in Biomaterials & Artificial Organs is an international journal publishing research representing the progress in the area of Biomaterials, Medical Devices, Artificial Organs, Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine. The journal publishes Editorials, Original Research Articles, Short Communications, Review Articles, Research Letters, and Letter to Editor. New concepts and frontiers in the area of Biomaterials, Medical Devices, Artificial Organs, Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine are expected to become the core of medical health care. Innovative and systematic information will help in developing diagnostics, biosensor, prevention of diseases towards improved health care and rehabilitation of patients, and is extremely essential for rapid growth of Biomaterials Science internationally. Scope of the journal covers basic science, engineering and applications of glasses and ceramics, nanotechnology, natural and synthetic polymers, metals, alloys and composites or a combination.
Editorials are by invitations only by the editor. They are not peer reviewed but are indexed. Original Research Articles, Short Communications, Review Articles and Research Letters are open submissions, submitted following the author instructions and are indexed and peer reviewed. Letters to the Editor is not peer reviewed but are indexed.
Peer Review Process

This is a web-based submission and review system. Authors may submit manuscripts and track their progress through the system to publication. Reviewers can download manuscripts and submit their opinions to the editor. Editors can manage the whole submission/review/revise/publish process.

All submitted manuscripts are reviewed initially by the editor. Manuscripts are evaluated according to the following criteria: material is original and timely, writing is clear, study methods are appropriate, data are valid, conclusions are reasonable and supported by the data, information is important, and topic meets the focus and scope of the journal. Manuscripts with insufficient priority for publication are rejected promptly. Other manuscripts are sent to expert consultants for peer review. Peer reviewer identities are kept confidential, but author identities are made known to reviewers. The existence of a manuscript under review is not revealed to anyone other than peer reviewers and editorial staff. Reviewers, whose names are not normally disclosed to the authors, will study all contributions which the Editor deems to be of sufficient significance and interest to be sent for peer review. The criteria by which this initial assessment is made include relevance to the scope of the journal, the originality of the work and its significance to the broad development of the field of biomaterials, artificial organs, tissue engineering and regenerative medicne. Normally a manuscript will be asigned to two reviewers and the review normally takes 30 days.
Trends in Biomaterials & Artificial Organs is a peer reviewed journal publishing four issues per volume, per year by the Society for Biomaterials and Artificial Organs (India).
