Abstract
Periodontitis, one of the most destructive inflammatory diseases of the periodontal tissues, causes the irreversible loss of teeth. Moreover, the potential connection of periodontitis with atherosclerosis, pancreatic cancer diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, chronic respiratory disease, pregnancy complications, and dementia is alarming. The suggested possibility of control of inflammation for atherosclerosis by control of inflammation for periodontitis and vice versa necessitate the importance of the development of various types of dental biomaterials for the prevention and treatment of tooth decay and other damages caused to tooth, gums and periodontal tissue
